My name is Sara Coles and welcome to Yoga with Sara.

I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my website, as hopefully this means you either love yoga already and are looking to join an inclusive community, or are about to embark on a new passion for it.

My love of yoga began at a particularly stressful period of my life whereby I soon realised the profound, positive impact it was having on me. I knew from then on that I wanted to share and pass on the experience to others.

Yoga, in essence, is a practice to build strength and flexibility whilst focusing on breathing, relieving stress and enhancing physical as well as mental wellbeing. I’ve heard from clients yoga being described as:

“Calm and clear”
“Everything was just perfect
“The perfect way to spend an hour”

For me, yoga is a haven for recuperation, relaxation and peace. It brings a sense of calm to my mind, allowing me to go about my life with clarity. Quite often leaving a session with some perspective.

My Teaching Journey

Everyone’s yoga teaching journey is different, and mine started in 2005 with The British Wheel of Yoga. I began training with Hatha Yoga; a set of physical exercises, and sequences of asanas (postures), designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones.

I’ve since practiced a variety of styles including:
Iyengar Power Yoga, otherwise known as Vinyasa Flow
Gravity Yoga otherwise known as Targeted Flexibility Training

Most recent of which was my Gravity Yoga teacher training course. I wanted to add a more diverse approach to my teaching style, offering deep flexibility training to the program of classes on offer.

My Yoga Style

There are currently 11 styles of yoga, all of which withhold alternative principles, focus, pace and fluidity.

Personally, I have developed a core style that is a Vinyasa Flow based practice, focusing on the alignment of your body and breath. Flowing through sequences that strengthen, tone and balance the body and the mind.

Benefits of Vinyasa Flow

As I am able to teach a range of different classes, my approach to yoga can be both challenging and relaxing, suiting the needs of my students. My classes need not be rigid to specific styles; I can bring in various aspects and yoga principles from a host of techniques where it seems relevant and/or beneficial to my students.

At Yoga with Sara, “with” being the important word, you are part of a community; an online space whereby you can feel safe and cared for. I keep an open and friendly approach to each one of my classes to ensure my students know they are in a safe place. With a direct line of communication to myself through Facebook, all members can seek extra guidance at any time.

Although in-person classes are great, I understand the complexities of daily life and know it’s not always plausible to attend a class in a studio. My classes are available to you live through a weekly timetable/schedule, but also as and when it suits you through the playback feature. All classes are recorded and therefore accessible at any time.

Where props and tools are concerned, blocks, straps, bolsters and cushions can all be very useful, and sometimes necessary, for certain practices. Within my studio classes I provide these where needed, but you may prefer to purchase your own. I would personally recommend Manduka Yoga for any yoga related products, but you can source them wherever you wish.
